IPL 2018 Retained Players

Indian Premier League 2018 is still set to be played in the month of April-May next year, but the speculation surrounding the sport is growing by the day. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will return to the league after finishing their two year suspension, leading many to wonder about the fate of Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions.

2018 IPL Team players will be updated here.
1. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals return to the Indian Premier League 2018, and will definitely need the players to build their squads.CSK will look to retain players and getting back ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni back on their side.

Amidst all this speculation, one ought to wonder what players the franchises will retain for the 2018

Mumbai Indians – They won the title for the third time this season, and have become one of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL. They are sure to retain their captain, Rohit Sharma, who took the lads in Blue to their third league trophy. In addition to him, we can also see Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga being retained by the Mumbai Indian’s management for yet another season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – Without a doubt, the players they will be looking to retain are David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. The duo have been highly consistent over the last two seasons and have taken their side to new heights. Losing them from the opening order will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Hyderabad management, and they will do everything possible to retain either one of them, if not both. Yuvraj Singh has also been a valuable player for the team, and it is likely that we might see him in the orange jersey once again.

Kolkata Knight Riders – Gautam Gambhir has been their key player who has taken his side through trickiest of the situations, time and again. He has been with the side since 2011 and in many ways, is the KKR veteran. By his side, we can see the prolific all-rounder Yusuf Pathan, who has taken his side to many impressive victories from what appeared to be the brink of defeat. In bowling, Sunil Narine has done well and it’s hard to imagine the Knight Riders letting him go.

Kings XI Punjab – They are the one team in need of a massive overhaul. After performing disastrously, consistently, over the last three seasons, they need a side which can perform well. A couple of players which they are likely to retain are Hashim Amla and Glenn Maxwell, their two best performers from the 2017 season. They need a good batting order, and these two players have a lot to contribute for it.

Delhi Daredevils – The Daredevils have built a good squad over the years, with mid-twenties being the average age of players. They have invested in young talent and while they are yet to see any concrete results, there are many names which have performed superbly. Sanju Samson is one such player, who had a great season last year with Delhi, and is likely to play for the same team in 2018 too. Rishabh Pant too, played well for his side in 2017 and Delhi may very well retain him for the next season as well. In the overseas department, we may see either Kagiso Rabada or JP Duminy being retained.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Last but not the least, we have the Bengaluru side. Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the player who will be retained under all circumstances. For better and worse, he has been with the side and it’s unlikely that he will break his allegiance this time around. However, it is possible that we may see either AB de Villiers or Chris Gayle leave (The chances for the latter one are higher). Gayle hasn’t been able to perform consistently over the last two seasons and bringing in a replacement can do the trick in the opening order.

As for the other two (or possibly four) sides, we will get a more clear picture when we get closer to the tournament. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will make a comeback, and will look to build a superior squad to establish their rule once again in the Indian Premier League. It is unclear as to how they will be made to select their players, with many possibilities currently in play. It will be interesting to see how things pan out, but one thing is certain – it is surely going to be entertaining and thrilling. Watch this space for more updates on the Indian Premier League 2018.

Pakistan Cricket Board announced a 16-member squad for the three Twenty20 Internationals against World XI, on Friday (August 25).
Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the side that includes youngsters like Fahim Ashraf, Ruman Raees, Usman Shinwari and Aamer Yamin. Fast bowler Sohail Khan, who last made an appearance for the national team in October 2016, has also been included in the squad.
Sarfraz Ahmed (C, wk), Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Umer Amin, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Amir Yamin, Mohammad Amir, Rumman Raees, Usman Shinwari, Sohail Khan.
While Ashraf, Raees and Yamin have played One-Day Internationals for Pakistan, Shinwari has featured in two T20Is, against Sri Lanka, in 2013. Sohail last played a T20I in 2011 against Zimbabwe in Harare. Allrounder Umar Amin too finds a place in the side after impressive performances in the List A matches, including two centuries - 111 and 156 - in last four games.
The notable omissions from the squad include Azhar Ali, Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal and Wahab Riaz.
"The team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions and the recent performances of some players in the domestic and international tours. The players' consists of a combination of the fine blend of youth and senior players," Inzamam ul Haq, the chief selector, said.
"It would be good for the young players to get a chance to play on the home ground and perform in front of the local public."

Sohail Khan last played a T20I for Pakistan in 2011.
The board had recalled all Pakistan players from the ongoing County Championships and Caribbean Premier League for a fitness test before announcing the squad. The players, though, were allowed to return soon after.
The World XI side, led by Faf du Plessis, will play three T20Is in Lahore on September 12, 13 and 15.
The World XI series will mark the return of international cricket in Pakistan. They are also due to host Sri Lanka and Windies, after the conclusion of the World XI series. The Windies are expected to visit Pakistan sometime in late November for a three-match T20I series.
Pakistan, who haven't hosted any high-profile international cricket ever since the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in March 2009, lost their share of matches during the 2011 World Cup which was co-hosted by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The only teams who travelled to Pakistan in this period were Zimbabwe and Afghanistan (they played three unofficial ODIs against Pakistan A). The peaceful hosting of the Pakistan Super League 2017 final in Lahore painted a positive image in their bid towards bringing international cricket back to their country.

World Five sailors injured, 10 missing after U.S. Navy destroyer collides with a merchant ship

SEOUL — Ten U.S. Navy sailors are missing and five have been injured after the USS John S. McCain destroyer collided with an oil tanker near Singapore early Monday morning.

This is the second time in two months that a Navy destroyer based at the 7th Fleet’s home port of Yokosuka, Japan, has been involved in a collision. Seven sailors were killed when the USS Fitzgerald collided with a container ship south of Japan in June.

The guided missile destroyer and the Liberian-flagged merchant vessel Alnic MC collided near the Strait of Malacca at 5:24 a.m. local time, the Navy’s 7th Fleet said in a statement.

Initial reports indicated that the destroyer sustained damage to its port side at the rear, but is currently sailing under its own power and heading to port in Singapore.

“The extent of damage and personnel injuries is being determined,” the 7th Fleet said.

Search and rescue efforts are underway. U.S. Navy Seahawk helicopters and Ospreys have been mobilized, joining tugboats from Singapore, a Singapore navy ship and helicopters, and a Singapore police coast guard vessel.

“Our first priority is determining the safety of the ship and crew,” Adm. John Richardson, chief of naval operations, wrote via Twitter. “As more information is learned, we will share it.”

The 7th Fleet set up an emergency assistance center in Yokosuka for family members of the McCain crew.

President Trump, returning to the White House on Sunday night, responded to reporters’ questions about the collision by saying: “That’s too bad.”

The McCain, a 505-foot-long Arleigh Burke-class destroyer based at the 7th Fleet’s home port in Yokosuka, Japan, had been on its way to a routine port visit in Singapore. Shipping data showed that the Alnic, a 600-foot-long oil tanker with a dead weight of 50,760 tons, also was on its way to Singapore.

This collision comes just days after the Navy issued a report listing errors that led to a collision between the USS Fitzgerald — also a Yokosuka-based Arleigh Burke-class destroyer — and a much larger container ship just south of Japan in June.

The collision killed seven sailors, all of whom drowned in their berth compartments when the container ship struck the destroyer’s side. The Navy said last week that it would discipline a dozen sailors who were aboard the Fitzgerald, including the top two officers and the top enlisted sailor, whose careers are almost certainly over.

Adm. William F. Moran, the vice chief of naval operations, said that the sailors who were on watch in the ship’s bridge “lost situational awareness,” contributing to the collision.

The USS McCain is named after the father and grandfather of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). John S. McCain Sr. and John S. McCain Jr. served as admirals in the Navy during World War II. The destroyer’s motto is “Fortune favors the brave.”

Photos posted on the USS McCain’s Facebook page showed the crew enjoying fishing and playing cards on the deck at sunset Saturday, during a “patrol in the South China Sea in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.”
